Overview

Project

For the BeTV project, the task was to create the complete visual identity of a sports show, which involved designing the set and the channel’s graphics. The project was developed in collaboration with my team at Dreamwall, where I served as the Art Director, contributing to the concept design and visual identity of the program.

My Role

I led this project by first focusing on the needs of the stakeholders, mainly the client and the Creative Production Manager, with whom I discussed the initial expectations and requirements. Based on this, I started the graphic research, creating a moodboard to lay the visual foundations for the show. This moodboard served as a guide throughout the creative process.

Next, I explored various 3D design concepts, aiming to create organic shapes and volumes inspired by the energy of a football stadium. After this exploratory phase, I guided my team to bring the project to life, ensuring consistent direction and continuous oversight.

The final product, a TV show with a strong and immersive visual identity, was successfully aired. It was even awarded at the Broadcast Production Awards during the NAB Show in Las Vegas, a significant recognition in the television production industry.

Scope

Objectives

The show revolves around a football stadium setting, and we wanted the visual identity to reflect the dynamic and immersive experience of the game. The design process followed a Design Thinking approach, ensuring that we aligned with both the client’s needs and the show’s audience expectations. The goal was to create a virtual set that felt organic and fluid, representing the energy and movement of a football stadium, while also incorporating elements that were flexible and adaptable for different parts of the show.

“What I’m looking for in this show is a set that captures the raw energy of a football stadium, but with a modern and dynamic approach.”

Concept Design

Moodboard

The first step in my creative process was to create a moodboard, which was crucial in guiding the direction of the visual identity. I began by pinning key words derived from the director’s brief, such as stadium, modern, dynamic, organic and energy. These terms served as the foundation for gathering images, textures, and visual elements that embodied these concepts.

3D Design

Once the moodboard was established, I focused on researching 3D shapes and volumes that would become the building blocks of the project’s visual identity. The goal was to translate these keywords into tangible structures, creating organic and dynamic elements inspired by the architecture of a stadium. These shapes would then be adapted across the set and graphic elements to ensure consistency and full immersion into the football universe.

Style Guide

At the end of the project, I created a comprehensive style guide that served as a blueprint for the graphic teams and TV branding department throughout the production. This guide defined the key visual elements of the project, including colors, typography, textures, shapes, and animations. It ensured visual consistency across all media, standardizing graphics, transitions, and TV branding. Thanks to this style guide, the teams were able to work seamlessly and in alignment, ensuring that every element of the project adhered to the visual identity established from the outset.

VR Environnement Set

Based on the established visual identity, we were able to advance towards the integration of a virtual set into a real-time engine that aligned with the initial design paradigms (modern, dynamic, stadium, organic, energy, etc.). This integration ensured the virtual set remained fully coherent with the overall style guide, maintaining consistency with the graphic elements, colors, and design principles. The result was a virtual environment that not only reflected the energy and dynamism of a stadium but also provided the flexibility required to shoot the show in a virtually immersive studio setting, closely matching the visual expectations of the project.

3D Concept Art

I CREATED THE 3D CONCEPT ART THAT FORMED THE VISUAL FOUNDATION OF THE PROJECT, DEFINING THE OVERALL DESIGN AND AESTHETIC DIRECTION. THIS INCLUDED THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE 3D VIRTUAL SET, TEXTURES, LIGHTING, AND KEY VISUAL ELEMENTS, ENSURING A STRONG AND COHESIVE LOOK FOR THE FINAL PRODUCT.

Visual Identity

I CREATED THE STYLE GUIDE DOCUMENT THAT PROVIDED A COMPREHENSIVE FRAMEWORK FOR THE PROJECT’S VISUAL IDENTITY, INCLUDING COLOR PALETTES, TYPOGRAPHY, DESIGN ELEMENTS, AND USAGE RULES, ENSURING CONSISTENCY AND COHESION ACROSS ALL GRAPHIC APPLICATIONS.

3D Virtual Set

WE DELIVERED A 3D VR VIRTUAL SET THAT ENABLED THE SHOW TO BE SHOT IN AN IMMERSIVE 3D ENVIRONMENT, CREATED USING REAL-TIME TECHNOLOGY WITH THE UNREAL ENGINE, PROVIDING A DYNAMIC AND INTERACTIVE SETTING FOR THE PRODUCTION.
